Highland Park Distillery on Orkney is unveiling a new edition in the Between You and I series. A label for the whisky has now surfaced, revealing a fresh collaboration. Could this be another culinary delight to savor?
The online
TTB database regularly logs new
labels for whiskies. Distilleries and producers submit these in anticipation of potential future releases. While many of these bottles hit the shelves soon after, some never make it past the label stage.
What will the new Highland Park whisky be?
The label doesn’t reveal much about the whisky itself. In fact, it only confirms the new collaboration and the alcohol content. There’s no mention of a flavor profile, cask types, or other details about the single malt.
The whisky will be bottled at 47.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and aged 17 years. It also marks a collaboration with Laila Gohar, a culinary artist based in New York. With this,
Highland Park continues its trajectory of experimental releases within the Between You And I series, though exactly what’s in store remains a mystery.
A series rich in flavorful collaborations
Launched in 2025, this Scottish single malt series aims to reframe the whisky experience. Instead of classic tasting notes,
Highland Park invites creative minds from other disciplines to share their interpretations of the whisky, each through the lens of their own background.
The first Between You And I edition was created with Swedish chef Björn Frantzén, famed for his three-Michelin-star restaurant. He portrayed the whisky through personal memories, from his childhood in his grandmother’s kitchen to rebellious teenage years filled with graffiti.
That whisky stood out not just for its storytelling, but also for its technical innovation. For the first time,
Highland Park used new, unused Swedish oak during maturation.
For the second edition,
Highland Park turns to a culinary artist. Originally from Egypt, Laila Gohar is known for immersive, sensory installations centered around food. Her work straddles art, performance, and gastronomy, and she has collaborated with prestigious names such as Prada, Hermès, Perrier-Jouët, and Sotheby’s.
When is the new Highland Park 17 Year Old coming?
What kind of whisky will emerge from this is still unknown. It could, for instance, involve maturation in Egyptian oak or a distinctive bourbon cask treatment. The exact release date is also unclear. And of course, a filed label never guarantees an immediate release.
