The London-based Bimber distillery has introduced four new bottles in the Underground series, and will be raffling them among purchasers. The bottles are the eighth series of four-releasing, now consisting of 32 bottles.
Each whisky in the English series is a single cask release and limited in edition, with each run yielding between 200 and 400 bottles. Steve Rush, Head of Marketing at Bimber Distillery, is thrilled with the four new releases.
'Two of these remarkable expressions have been exclusively matured in ex-bourbon casks, whereas the other two have been finished in a Tawny Port and a Re-Charred Cask - each providing their own unique character to our fruity single malt London whiskey.'

Which four whiskies has Bimber unveiled?

  • Elephant and Castle : Re-Charred Cask (Ref: 381/54)
  • Kew Gardens: Ex-Bourbon Cask (Ref: 253)
  • Marble Arch:  Tawny Port Cask (Ref: 531/48) 
  • South Kensington: Ex-Bourbon Cask (Ref: 409)

How do the four Bimber whisky releases taste?

Below, we have lined up the tasting notes for each whisky:

Elephant & Castle

  • Nose: Juicy red apple, pineapple, creamy crème brûlée, anise seed, spices and oak.
  • Palate: Toffee apple with vanilla, poached pear, anise, ginger and oak.
  • Finish: Long with notes of toffee apple and spices.
The whisky is bottled at 56.5% alcohol by volume (ABV).

Marble Arch

  • Nose: Raspberry with toffee, sponge cake, baking spices and oak.
  • Palate: Red berries compote, cinnamon sticks, vanilla and oak.
  • Finish: Red berries and baking spices.
The whisky is bottled at 57.4% alcohol by volume (ABV).  

Kew Gardens

  • Nose: Layers of vanilla and caramel, citrus, spices and apple.
  • Palate: Notes of lime, vanilla, caramel, oak and some spices.
  • Finish: Long with persistent sweet tones and some spices.
The whisky is bottled at 56.9% alcohol by volume (ABV).  

South Kensington

  • Nose: Granny Smith apples with lemon muffins, toast and wood spices.
  • Palate: Lemon curd, honey, anise, pepper and oak.
  • Finish: Long and balanced with lemon, honey and some spices.
The whisky is bottled at 58.1% alcohol by volume (ABV).  

How many bottles will there in Bimber Underground whisky series?

In total, the series will consist of 44 bottles. These bottles will all provide a nod to the extensive subway network of London, where the distillery is located. Whether a set with all the bottles comes out later is unknown.
