In the world of whisky, you have exclusive bottles and then you have exclusive bottles. Some are exclusive because production yields only a few bottles, others are so aged they have survived various wars. The Bowmore ARC-52 falls into both categories because this
single malt whisky has matured for an impressive 52 years and is limited to just a hundred bottles worldwide.
80.000 euros worth of whisky
The spirit has spent this maturing period in two barrels, first sherry and then bourbon. According to Bowmore's website, it's a time machine that's half Bowmore and half Aston Martin. The price reflects this, as the bottle will set you back 80,000 euros, if you can even get your hands on it.
For comparison: you could drive an Aston Martin for around 200,000 euros in the Netherlands.
Marek Reichman, chief creative officer at Aston Martin, describes the bottle as a timeless piece of beautiful art. And indeed, the vessel holding the spirit is truly unique. The bottle boasts a streamlined shape devoid of straight lines. It would almost look like a UFO if it weren't for the Aston Martin and Bowmore logos prominently displayed on the front. Are all Aston Martin and Bowmore bottles this pricey?
The ARC-52 is not the only whisky that has emerged from the
Bowmore and Aston Martin collaboration. The two have released multiple collections so far. Take the GTR Collection, for example, where you can find three bottles: one 10, 15, and 18 years old. Each bottle features a different Aston Martin on the packaging and is available in limited quantities. Although these bottles also have limited availability, they are much more affordable.
Besides the GTR Collection, there is also the Master's Selection. Now in its second edition, this collection was crafted by master blender Ron Welsh and Marek Reichman, the chief creative officer at Aston Martin. This single malt, which has matured for 22 years, goes for around 700 to 800 euros.
