Over the last 20 years, many famous people have started working with alcohol brands. Before, they just said 'drink this because I am famous'. Now, they own parts of the company or help make the products. So, what about this new project with Glenmorangie and Harrison Ford? Is it just advertising, or is the whisky actually good? Let's see.
Ford's work with the Highland distillery started in a traditional way, but then it became more serious. In early 2025, Ford was in the "Once Upon a Time in Scotland" campaign. It was not just one small video, but a big global campaign. One year later, in May 2026, Glenmorangie released the Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition. Ford made this whisky together with the master distiller, Dr. Bill Lumsden.
The distillery says Ford tried different casks and helped choose the flavor. The whisky uses normal bourbon casks and then finishes in toasted red wine casks from Portugal. So, Glenmorangie used Ford's fame, but they also made a real collaboration together. Whisky fans like this a lot, and many people laughed at the funny ads. Good job, Glenmorangie!

More than just a celebrity label

Most Glenmorangie special bottles try strange wine finishes, but this one was made for Ford's personal taste. That is why it is interesting. Dr. Bill Lumsden said Ford likes whisky with "a little bite." So they used Portuguese red wine casks to add more strong character and tannins compared to the soft, fruity house style of Glenmorangie.
Time to taste this whisky. We pour a good amount into our Glenmorangie tasting glass we bought during our distillery visit and wait a little bit. First, we look at the bottle. It does not look like a cheap Hollywood product. It looks like a real Glenmorangie special release with Harrison Ford’s name on it. The bottle has a classic and elegant tall shape with a long neck. The small details look nice, like the dark top on the neck and the clean label. The letters are simple and modern, so it looks like expensive Scotch whisky. The box is matte black with orange letters. These colors show the whisky color and the dark oak casks.
Scents of vanilla and toffee are the first to hit the nose, followed by orange and citrus notes. This is very classic Glenmorangie. But when you drink it, it is different. The taste is a bit dry and chewy (not to be confused with Han Solo’s sidekick Chewbacca from Star Wars!). Then it quickly becomes fresh, a bit bitter and sweet, with flavors of grapefruit, lemon, and dry red fruits.
You can taste the traditional Glenmorangie style, but with extra oak and complexity from the red wine casks. The finish stays long in your mouth and feels dry. In our opinion the taste sits between the Original 12 years old and the Quinta Ruban 14 years old.

Conclusion Glenmorangie Harrison Ford whisky review

The Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition is a very nice addition to the line-up. It is a real collaboration with the actor, not just paying a famous actor for advertising. The mix of classic Glenmorangie citrus flavors with the Portuguese red wine casks creates a nice and special whisky.
At 46.5% alcohol, it has more taste than standard bottles, but it is still easy to drink. Some people might not like that it has no age on the label, but the good taste makes up for it. It is a nice whisky for Glenmorangie fans and for people who like a bottle with a good story.
Fun fact: The whisky came out on May 4 (Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you)), which was definitely planned for marketing!
+ Interesting cask combination
+ Good alcohol strength (46.5% ABV)
+ Real whisky project, not just celebrity ad
- No age on the bottle (NAS)
- Not available worldwide
