Three distinct siblings form the same spirit
Now, the whiskey maker is introducing a brand-new trilogy that explores how the environment influences whiskey and its maturation. Freddie Noe, Master Distiller at the American distillery, used three identical mash bills to create identical spirits.
He then experimented with aging them in different rickhouses along Hardin’s Creek, with remarkable results.
“The Warehouse Series is all about pure discovery. By changing only the environment, you can see how deeply it affects the whiskey’s aroma, color, and taste.”
- Freddie NoeWhich releases are part of the James B. Beam Hardin’s Creek whiskey series?
The series consists of three releases, each centered around a different warehouse. Below is an overview with a description of each rickhouse:
- Warehouse R 'The Mushroom': A low building with no windows. Because the air barely circulates inside, the whiskey undergoes a more intense maturation. The result is a bourbon with powerful oak notes, deep caramel, and an almost earthy character.
- Warehouse W 'The Beaver': An old five-story rickhouse located close to the creek. The combination of its age, good ventilation, and the steady flow of nearby water creates a bourbon with a beautifully balanced profile. Expect gentle smoke, light oak, and a fresh sweetness.
- Warehouse G 'The Owl': The tallest of the three, with nine floors. The large temperature variations throughout the building give this bourbon layered aromas and a complex, spicy profile.
All three expressions are eleven years old and bottled at fifty-five percent ABV (one hundred ten proof).
Three bottles with distinct character
The Hardin’s Creek bottles from James B. Beam Distilling Co. stand out not only in flavor but also in design. Each label was created by surrealist artist Max Loeffler, who used symbolic animals and other elements to represent both the origin and the age of the bourbons.
The Hardin’s Creek bourbons retail for 149.99 dollar each and are available in selected markets in the
United States.
