Lindores Abbey Nectere
Lindores Abbey Distillery from Fife, Scotland has announced a new whisky. The Nectere whisky has a striking character, drawn entirely from four different sherry casks: sherry, sherry, and more sherry.
On June 25, Lindores Abbey will launch its new single malt, already previewed here. For this release, the Scottish distiller set out to showcase how different sherry influences build layers of flavor in whisky. The spirit was matured in a combination of four sherry cask types: Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado, and Palo Cortado.
The whisky’s name comes from Latin, derived from the word “Conectere,” meaning to connect or bring together.

What is Lindores Abbey Nectere whisky?

For Nectere, the distillery uses barley from Fife, grown on land once tilled by the monks of Lindores Abbey. In doing so, the whisky weaves together local agriculture, centuries of history, and modern whisky-making.
But Nectere’s real power doesn’t just come from the barley. Its character is defined by maturation in that standout sherry cask combination. Here’s what each cask brings to the whisky:
  • Oloroso: structure and notes of dried fruit.
  • Pedro Ximénez: richness, depth, and natural color.
  • Amontillado: roasted nuts and marmalade-like accents. Palo Cortado: elegance and subtle oxidative layers in the whisky.
Nectere is proof of what can be achieved when talented people come together with a shared goal and a drive for excellence.
Gary Haggart, distillery manager at Lindores Abbey, says the whisky is the result of hard work from the heart.
