Jamie Fraser will no doubt ring a bell for fans of the series Outlander. The Highlander was portrayed in the show by Sam Heughan, a whisky lover through and through. After publishing two whisky books, he’s finally launched a whisky of his own: The Sassenach Jamie Fraser Collection.
Actor Sam Heughan has chosen to name his latest The Sassenach whisky after one of his most iconic roles: Jamie Fraser from Outlander. He inhabited the Highlander for over 10 years and will do so for the last time this year in season 8. And there’s only one way to celebrate that: with a Scotch of his own.
Limited Edition: The Sassenach Jamie Fraser Collection
With Outlander nearing its end, an exclusive limited-edition whisky is making its debut. The name The Sassenach: Jamie Fraser Collection couldn’t be more fitting, even if it isn’t a collection but rather a single, time-limited release.
It’s a blended Scotch whisky, though not much is publicly known. The exact components of the blend and the tasting notes haven’t been disclosed. What we do know: it comes in a 750-milliliter bottle and is bottled at 46% alcohol by volume (ABV).
A personal touch
Heughan says the whisky is deeply personal to him. He spent years with the character, just like the fans. He wanted the whisky to resonate specifically with those people.
'The Jamie Fraser Collection is a celebration of heritage, love, and a journey we’ve all embarked on together.'
- Sam HeughanWhat makes this release even more special is a personal letter from Sam Heughan to Jamie Fraser. In it, he reflects on the years he “spent with the character,” expresses his gratitude, and looks back on the impact Fraser has had on his life.
