A new
whisky bar has opened on Sentosa Island in
Singapore. The bar, named
Horatio, is named after a fictional character who has visited all the major distilleries.
Last but not least, they serve rare whisky there.
The whisky bar features three distinct spaces, each special in their own unique way:
What is The Main Parlour all about?
At The Main Parlour, you can indulge in exclusive cocktails, with 12 drinks on the menu that are inspired by beverage-producing regions worldwide. The name of the bar, and the fictional character Horatio, feature prominently in these drinks.
His adventures are somewhat translated into the customer's glass. If someone desires a Scottish cocktail, they'll be served the Highland Hermit. This cocktail offers a Scottish whisky paired with heather honey, pear, lemon, thyme, and shortbread cookies.
Spirit Business writes the following: 'In the story, Horatio seeks shelter from a storm in a cabin, where he meets a mysterious shepherd, Angus. Angus takes Horatio to a hidden whisky cellar that was used by illicit distillers centuries ago and teaches him the art of whisky making.'
Guests enter through The Retail Emporium, which houses rare and exclusive bottles, where tastings can be conducted. Fancy tasting a Macallan from 1988? Check, it's possible. You will, however, need to pay a pretty penny.
Rare Cocktails in The Enclave
The crème de la crème is The Enclave, which you cannot simply walk into. Entry here is strictly by invitation only. Rare cocktails are the main focus here.
We were in Singapore last May and witnessed firsthand that the whisky culture is different from that in Europe. You'll find the most sophisticated whiskies in cocktails.
