The weather remains rather pleasant for this time of year. Luckily, in Scotland, we have a choice of five regions and can select a whisky from a particular region to match a specific flavor profile. Welcome to the three best robust
Highland whiskies to buy this week.
The tradition of recognizing whiskies by region came from a time when distilleries relied on local resources. With the advent of modern transportation such as the (steam) train, it has become possible to use resources from further afield. As we are in the midst of fall and the weather is set to become rowdier, a robust Highland whisky fits perfectly in these
whisky deals.
Glendronach 12
Housing in a brand new bottle and packaging, this classic has kept a very high standard of quality since 1826. This rich and complex single malt traditionally matures in fine Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso casks from Spain's Andalusia. This 12-year-old variant is the flagship with an intense natural color and aroma.
Douglas Laing Timorous Beastie Meet The Beast (Cask Strength)
The subtitle on the label guides the consumer towards a high-quality and combative character, "Meet the Beast". The independent bottler, Douglas Laing, includes each region in its "The Regional Malts" series, and this version represents the Highlands.
This whisky is cask strength (54.9%) and is a bottled limited edition. Only 3600 bottles were released. This allows you to enjoy a Blended Malt from the best Highland Distilleries, with an American twist as the aging process took place in bourbon casks.
Glenglassaugh 12
This renowned distillery is situated on a picturesque site by the coastline of Moray Firth with a breathtaking view of the North Sea. The brand's history dates back to its establishment in 1875.
Since 2013, Rachel Berry (known for Benriach and Glendronach) has been the master blender who crafted a selection for this coastal malt from bourbon, sherry, and red wine casks.
Savor ripe fruit with a hint of the salty sea.
