Glendronach expands its ultra-premium range with two limited editions: The Glendronach 30- and 40 Year Old 2025 Edition. Both whiskies come from sherry casks, yet they have unique maturation profiles.
Rachel Barrie, master blender at The Glendronach, says the 30-year-old whisky is a symphony of sherry cask styles. According to her, the 40-year-old whisky has been polished by time and might become the ultimate Glendronach whisky.
What is The Glendronach 30 Year Old 2025 Edition whisky?
The 30-year-old single malt from the Scottish distillery has matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks. Additionally, the whisky was for the first time matured in Amontillado sherry casks.
The Amontillado cask adds a delicately refined note of toasted hazelnuts and smooth cream-caramel, while the Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks amplify the signature fragrances of dark cherry, chocolate, and spicy fruit.
The whisky is bottled at 45.8 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). The price of the bottle is more than 1000 pounds, which equates to 1150 euros.
What is The Glendronach 40 Year Old 2025 Edition?
The 40-year-old
single malt whisky has matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Spanish oak. These are from 1978, 1983, and 1984.
The whisky opens with aromas of dark fruit, rich chocolate, and sherry-dried figs, followed by hints of dark syrup, candied ginger, toasted pineapple, and Brazil nuts wrapped in pure chocolate.
The single malt whisky is bottled at a natural cask strength of 42.1 percent ABV. Only 300 bottles are available, each costing 5000 pounds (equivalent to 5800 euros).
With these exceptional releases, Glendronach once again proves why their sherry cask maturation is lauded worldwide.
