William Grant & Sons has unveiled a new series of Glenfiddich whiskies, the Glenfiddich XS Series. It's a trio of single malt whiskies with age statements of 15, 18, and 21 years - a new collection of three single malt Scotch whiskies which have matured for 15, 18 and 21 years. The collection is set to hit the Chinese market in November.

Seeking a new audience

William Grant & Sons has introduced Glenfiddich XS, a new collection of three single malt Scotch whiskies which have matured for 15, 18, and 21 years. The series was developed to appeal to a younger audience, to captivate a new generation of whisky lovers.

Brian Kinsman, malt master at William Grant & Sons, says that the XS Series invites exploration. The whiskies all have a unique twist in their flavour profiles offering a layered experience.

The Scottish distillery has revealed the following whiskies within the XS Series:

What is the Glenfiddich XS 15 Year Old whisky?

The youngest bottle of single malt whisky in the trilogy matured in American and European oak barrels. Then, the whisky received a finish in Oloroso sherry casks before being bottled at 42% alcohol by volume (ABV).

In the official tasting notes, Glenfiddich describes notes of green apple, warming cinnamon, light spices, and a gentle oak sweetness.

What is the Glenfiddich XS 18 Year Old whisky?

For the Glenfiddich XS 18 Years Old, Kinsman used American and European oak barrels with a finish in rare moscatel sherry casks. This single malt whisky was also bottled at 42% ABV.

The expression has tasting notes that consist of caramelized fruit and syrupy toffee, with a taste of sherry richness and oak tannin.

What is the Glenfiddich XS 21 Year Old whisky?

The oldest bottle in the trilogy is the Glenfiddich XS 21 Years Old. This whisky matured in American oak barrels and Oloroso sherry casks. Then, a finish occurred in rare Pedro Ximénez casks.

The official tasting notes mention raw cane sugar and muscovado syrup on the nose, followed by a deep, full flavour with woody spices and dried fruit.

Where can the Glenfiddich XS Series whiskies be purchased?

The new Glenfiddich whiskies will not be selling globally to start with. The distillery is rolling out the single malts first in China. The prices are 58 pounds for the 15-year-old whisky, 88 pounds for the 18 Year Old, and 170 pounds for the Glenfiddich XS 21 Year Old.
