Brand-new Glenmorangie whisky from two masterminds
The A Tale of whisky series by
Glenmorangie is widely recognized for the memories extracted from the mind of Dr. Bill Lumsden, master of whisky distilling at the distillery. For A Tale of Spice, not only his brain was consulted, but also that of Gillian Macdonald, Master Blender at Glenmorangie.
A Tale of Spice is, in fact, created as a tribute to the fragrant diversity that spice markets bring along. Dr. Bill Lumsden has always been attracted to these places, hence he and MacDonald started experimenting.
The central question was how to make the whisky as aromatic as a market in Marrakesh.
What is the Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices whisky?
The new whisky is ultimately influenced by a hefty Moroccan touch. The spirit has indeed matured in red wine casks from Morocco. These casks, made of French oak, have endowed the whisky with a healthy dose of spiciness.
But that's not all, the whisky also matured in new charred oak casks and shaved and toasted casks. This provides even more spiciness and some depth, alongside a fruity nuance.
Last but not least, it had aged in Pedro Ximénez casks for rich, sweet notes.
What does the Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices whisky taste like?
