House of Hazelwood Reveals Exclusive Warehouse Reserve Whisky

The Scottish whisky house House of Hazelwood has launched a brand-new series with a striking debut: the House of Hazelwood Warehouse Reserve Series. The first release, Batch 1, is immediately one of the rarest bottlings from the brand to date.

House of Hazelwood is known for releasing exceptional, historically significant Scotch whiskies from the family’s private reserves. With Warehouse Reserve, the brand takes things a step further, drawing on casks from the family’s most protected and private storage locations.

This new series focuses on whiskies that have matured for decades and are made available only in extremely limited quantities. The inaugural release is an exceptionally old blended whisky.

The new whisky from House of Hazelwood is no less than 36 years old. This blended Scotch matured in the family’s private warehouse in Dufftown.

The exact cask types and number of casks used have not been disclosed, other than that they were European oak. It has been revealed, however, that the whisky was bottled at 51.4% alcohol by volume (ABV) and delivers pronounced notes of cherry, coffee beans, and molasses.

Instead of classic tasting notes, the whisky comes with a description of its flavor profile.

On the nose, it’s rich and layered with maraschino cherries, coffee beans, molasses, and delicate floral accents of rose.

On the palate, expect a full and powerful character. It opens sweet, then gradually turns drier and warmly spiced.

Nothing has been mentioned about the finish.

The new House of Hazelwood release isn’t readily available to everyone. Only 150 bottles have been filled, and they’re offered exclusively by invitation to House of Hazelwood guests. The price per bottle is 1,650.
