Wolfburn 2026 whisky
It’s almost 25 January, which means Burns Night is upon us. For many Scots it’s a cherished occasion, but for Wolfburn Distillery it’s extra special. It’s the day the distillery celebrates its rebirth.
On 25 January 2013, on Burns Night itself, Wolfburn fired up a still for the first time in around 150 years to run spirit again. Ever since reopening, Wolfburn has marked not only Burns Night but also its own anniversary on 25 January.

Wolfburn and Burns Night: inseparably linked

Just over 12 years ago Wolfburn opened its doors again after a century and a half of silence. The distillery began producing new spirit for whisky, but at that time the site was far from finished.
The warehouse had a door but no complete walls, and the floors in the main buildings hadn’t yet been laid. There was no heating either, so conditions were far from ideal.
They had hoped to start distilling earlier, but the first mash was a complete failure due to the cold. Even so, the team pressed on, there had to be a first spirit.
When that first new make spirit was tasted, the verdict was short but telling. Stuart Duff of Forsyths, the company behind the stills, thought it was excellent.
With that, Wolfburn was officially back as a working distillery and forever entwined with Scotland’s famous celebration.

A special Wolfburn whisky for a special moment

In recent years Wolfburn has bottled a special single malt to mark its birthday. This year brings the fourth release in the Anniversary Collection, true to form, a single cask whisky.
For 2026, cask 811 has been chosen. This ex-oloroso sherry cask was filled in December 2013 and matured in Warehouse 1. After 12 years’ rest, it was recently bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.7% alcohol by volume, with a total outturn of 874 bottles.
Below you’ll find the tasting notes for the Wolfburn 2026 Anniversary whisky:
  • Nose: Treacle on toast with soft oak tones.
  • Palate: Creamy, sweet, and deep with notes of dates and raisins, golden syrup and molasses, alongside gentle floral tones.
  • Finish: Sweet and luxurious.
The new Wolfburn whisky is for sale now at the distillery and online in the distillery shop. The price per bottle is about 75 pounds. There is a limited quantity available.
