Anthony Wills, master distiller at Kilchoman, has the following to say:

'As we considered how to mark this milestone, it became clear that selling a bottle from cask No.1 would put it out of reach for many people who have supported Kilchoman from the beginning. Instead, we decided to offer a bottle as part of a prize draw. While only one person will ultimately win, it gives everyone an equal chance, not just collectors or investors with the deep pockets, and hopefully, the winner will open and enjoy it as it was meant to be.'

That first cask was actually filled on December 14, 2005.

Details on the bottle

Not only is the box very chic, but there are also more details to discover. The lid is made of layered textures, symbolising the distillery's organic growth over the years. Moreover, the bottle has been engraved in Islay, showing the distillery's skyline. Additionally, it comes with a handwritten note from Anthony Wills.

How can you get this unique bottle of whisky?

On the official website of Kilchoman Distillery you can find all the details to participate. You can send in one ticket by mail for free, or you can buy 15 tickets each costing 9 pounds. The prices are therefore very low to have a chance, though the chances are also tremendously slim that you will win.
