The soul of the sea in a bottle
The Laphroaig distillery is inextricably linked to the coast of Islay. The distillery is right next to the water and the character of the single malt whisky is soaked with a maritime tone. This is no different for the Laphroaig The Wall Rope Edition.
For The Wall Rope Edition, a whisky that matured in sherry casks for nearly 40 years, the distillery looks back to the eighties. This was a time of renovations, changes, and resilience for the distillery. While whisky production temporarily decreased, the Laphroaig spirit remained steadfast.
Master Blender Calum Fraser reveals that the whisky narrates the journey of sherry casks to Islay, while the name is linked to the puffer boats responsible for deliveries on the island.
'We wanted to honor their journey – traveling by sea, weathering the elements, and finally reaching Islay. This whisky holds that story. After 39 years, it’s layered, bold, and unmistakably Laphroaig.'
