Lochlea 7 yo single estate single cask
Lochlea Distillery from Ayrshire, Scotland, has reached a milestone with its latest release: its oldest single estate single malt whisky to date. The new Lochlea bottling is 7 years old and is being released in limited quantities.
In Ayrshire, the oldest whisky release from Lochlea to date is now a reality, at least, the oldest single estate single malt from the brand. The distillery has bottled a 7-year-old whisky and is incredibly proud of the result.
Darren McCormick, Distillery Manager at Lochlea, says this whisky marks an important moment for the distillery. He emphasizes it’s far more than just another bottled spirit.
'Each of the 7 Hand-selected First-fill Bourbon Casks bring something different, from tropical fruits to buttery pastry notes, and marrying them together has created a whisky that feels both indulgent and beautifully balanced. We’re incredibly proud of this release, and we can’t wait for people to taste how our spirit continues to mature and evolve.'

What is the Lochlea 7 Year Old whisky?

The whisky is crafted entirely on site. That means the ingredients are grown at Lochlea, and the spirit is distilled and matured at the distillery.
A total of seven first-fill bourbon casks were used. All of these casks were filled in 2018 and then matured for seven years. McCormick and his team hand-selected the casks.
The result is a complex, richly layered whisky.
