In London’s Soho, a run-of-the-mill bag snatch has spiraled into an unbelievable case. An ultra-luxe whiskey set worth more than €2 million is suddenly incomplete after a Fabergé egg went missing, even though a suspect has already been caught, according to Crime World.
Imagine falling victim to a bag theft. That’s bad enough, but it could be worse. What if, by chance, your bag held an incredibly valuable Fabergé egg? That’s exactly what happened to the director of premium brands at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co.

A bag full of valuables

She was robbed of her handbag, which at that moment contained the egg. According to prosecutors, the woman’s bag held multiple high-value items, including:
  • a Fabergé egg
  • a luxury watch
  • a laptop
  • credit cards
After the theft, the thief used the stolen bank cards to make purchases at supermarkets around Soho, including cigarettes and other goods. He was eventually caught. He pleaded guilty to theft and three counts of fraud by false representation. He remains in custody and is due back in court on March 6.
During the hearing, Judge Martin Griffiths noted that the suspect likely had no idea how valuable the item in the bag was. The problem is that the egg is still missing and it happens to be the most valuable thing in the stolen bag. There’s a real chance it was thrown away.

Part of an extremely exclusive whiskey collection

The stolen Fabergé egg is part of The Emerald Isle Collection, an exceptionally luxurious release from The Craft Irish Whiskey Co., created in partnership with the jeweler Fabergé.
The woman whose bag was stolen works as director of premium brands at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. and was carrying the piece at the time. The Emerald Isle Collection was unveiled in 2021 as one of the most luxurious whiskies ever assembled. Each set includes multiple exclusive items, such as:
  • 2 bottles of 30-year-old Irish single malt whiskey
  • a bespoke Fabergé Celtic egg
  • a luxury watch
  • a humidor with 2 Cohiba Siglo VI Grand Reserve cigars
  • a gold-plated cigar cutter
  • a gold-plated whiskey pipette
  • obsidian whiskey stones
  • a hip flask with Emerald Isle whiskey
  • a carafe filled with spring water
  •  from the same region where the whiskey was produced
Only 7 of these Irish whiskey sets were made worldwide.

Whiskey aged for 30 years

The whiskey in the collection is a 30-year-old triple-distilled single malt. It was first matured in 200-liter first-fill American oak barrels that previously held bourbon. The whiskey then received a finishing period in a 40-liter Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, adding extra depth and complexity.
Ultimately, the bottle is part of a remarkable set, one that is now incomplete. The chances of the egg resurfacing are slim.
