For the fourth consecutive year, the American whiskey brand tops Drinks International’s The World’s Most Admired Whiskies. With that, Michter’s leaves both major and boutique producers from every corner of the globe in its wake.

Michter’s once again the world’s most admired whiskey

Drinks International’s annual ranking is compiled by an international panel of drinks buyers, bartenders, journalists, and whiskey experts from more than 25 countries. They determine which whiskey brands command the most admiration worldwide. In 2026, that yields the same winner for the fourth year running: Michter’s.

Even the organizers didn’t expect this year’s results to culminate in such a remarkable victory.

American whiskey pulls ahead of the competition

For Michter’s, this fourth win comes at a pivotal moment. The global drinks industry is facing a challenging market and uncertainty around international trade. Michter’s isn’t immune to that, but the brand prefers to focus on what it does best: the quality of its whiskey.

Michter’s produces bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey. According to the company, its various expressions aren’t simply pulled from the barrel after a set number of years. Each whiskey is matured until the team decides it’s truly ready to drink.

Michter’s primary distillery is in Shively, a neighborhood of Louisville. In Springfield, the company maintains an estate of roughly 205 hectares for growing grain. You’ll also find the Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery right in the heart of Louisville.

That last location houses the historic pot still system from the former Michter’s Pennsylvania Distillery. Visitors can take tours, enjoy tastings, and settle in at The Bar at Fort Nelson.
