Three new Glenglassaugh whiskies emerge, but not from the distillery itself

Glenglassaugh fans needn’t worry about the Scottish distillery’s scaled-back production. Three new single cask whiskies have just been unveiled. They’re not released directly by Glenglassaugh, however. Rare Finds, an independent bottler from Edinburgh, has brought them to market.

For this exclusive series, Rare Find selected three casks from the Glenglassaugh distillery. Each whisky received a different finish: rum, madeira, or ruby port. The releases showcase just how dramatically a whisky’s character and that of its distillery can evolve through different cask types.

Glenglassaugh is known for a fruity, honeyed distillery character, lifted by a gentle maritime freshness. Perched on the shores of the Moray Firth in the Scottish Highlands, its coastal DNA meets boldly seasoned casks in these bottlings, layering on tropical, spicy, and fruit-forward notes.

Which new Glenglassaugh whiskies have been released?

The Rare Find Glenglassaugh Collection features the following 3 single cask whiskies:

Glenglassaugh 10 Year Old: Finished for 19 months in a first-fill Foursquare rum cask, limited to 234 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 9 Year Old Madeira Finish: Finished for 11 months in a first-fill madeira octave, limited to 53 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 9 Year Old Ruby Port Finish: Finished for 11 months in a first-fill ruby port octave, limited to just 48 bottles.

What are the tasting notes for the new Glenglassaugh whiskies?

Glenglassaugh 10 Year Old Foursquare Rum Finish

Nose: Wild honey, caramel, peach, fresh citrus, green leaves, and unripe banana.
Palate: Toffee, caramel, apricot with lemon, golden tobacco, and cinnamon.
Finish: Toasted oak, dry cinnamon, stone fruits, and lingering tropical sweetness.

ABV: 54.6%

Glenglassaugh 9 Year Old Madeira Finish

Nose: Orange and lemon zest, raisins, digestive biscuits, ginger, and red and black berries.
Palate: Dark berry syrup, chocolate cake, candied orange, pepper, and cinnamon.
Finish: Long and spicy, with berries, cinnamon, and gently fading chocolate.

ABV: 52.7%

Glenglassaugh 9 Year Old Ruby Port Finish

Nose: Strawberry tart, raspberries with cream, butter biscuits, mirabelle plums, and milk chocolate.
Palate: A full-bodied texture with mixed forest fruits, ginger, cinnamon, chocolate cake, and a hint of cask char.
Finish: Long, with stewed red fruits and soft, lingering chocolate.

ABV: 52.2%

The Rare Find Glenglassaugh Collection will be available from 30 July 2026 at selected Rare Find stockists. Each bottling has an RRP of 79 pounds. Given the limited runs, these Glenglassaugh whiskies are likely to sell out quickly.
