The Speyside distillery Tormore is making waves with a new label. The American TTB database has revealed the labels for the new Tormore 16 Years Sherry Cask. It suggests a familiar age statement is returning to the lineup, but with a fresh twist. Here’s what we know.

New whisky labels regularly appear in the online TTB database. Distilleries and whisky producers register them with a potential release in mind, though that release doesn’t always happen. Sometimes it stops at the label; other times a whisky follows swiftly.

With the launch of the Tormore Blueprint 10yo Cask Programme in 2024, the distillery’s new owners already set a clear course toward 2026. This newly surfaced 16-year-old bottling looks like the next tangible step in that repositioning.

What do we know about the Tormore 16 Years Sherry Cask?

The new whisky logged is a 16-year-old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. According to the label, it was distilled and matured at Tormore in Advie, Scotland. Notably, the whisky now sits at 46.8% ABV. The previous 16-year-old from the Pernod Ricard era was bottled at 48%.

Per the label, this whisky matured in a combination of European and American oak sherry casks, followed by a finish in sherry oak. The specific type of sherry isn’t mentioned. The label also states the whisky is non-chill filtered and retains its natural color.

What does the Tormore 16 Years Sherry Cask taste like?

The tasting notes already appear on the label. The whisky is described with the following notes:

Nose: Sticky dates, warm toffee, and soft vanilla.
Palate: Rich, velvety layers of creamy fudge, orange zest, and spiced nutmeg.
Finish: Roasted hazelnuts with a subtle hint of sweet spice lingering pleasantly.

Will the new Tormore whisky see a quick release?

Tormore could well bring this whisky to market very soon. Still, a label isn’t a guarantee of an actual release. The distillery has yet to officially unveil anything.
