The Scottish producer has sold out previous editions of Velvet Fig time and again, and decided to bring it back for a new release. This single malt is bottled at 12 years of age.
Blender Isabella Wemyss is responsible for the limited release. Together with her team, she selected six first-fill sherry casks, including three butts. These were filled between June and November 2012 and then matured for twelve years in the warehouses.
Wemyss then chose to do things a little differently before bottling:
'Normally, we let whiskies marry in cask for a few weeks, but for this edition we took a different approach: the whisky remained fully matured in sherry-conditioned oak for five months, adding extra depth of flavor and texture.'
