The GlenAllachie 19 year old whisky
The Scottish GlenAllachie Distillery has registered a label in the U.S. TTB database. This time it’s an eye-catching whisky that has matured in a particularly special way. Billy Walker has had a whisky age in traditional solera sherry casks, and it looks set to be released soon.
The online TTB database regularly records labels for whiskies. Distilleries and whisky producers submit these with an eye to a potential future release. While many of these bottlings hit the shelves shortly after, some never make it past the label stage.

Traditional sherry casks for a new Speyside whisky

Something special is brewing at The GlenAllachie. According to a filed label, a whisky is on the way that has matured for 19 years in sherry casks from a solera system. The GlenAllachie 19 Years Old Ex-Solera Sherry Cask Matured has been drawn from casks that previously held sherry for many years.
The label already reveals plenty about this single malt Speyside whisky. It clearly states that the whisky is aged 19 years and is part of the Masters of Wood series. In addition, the alcohol percentage and the tasting notes are already known.

What to expect from The GlenAllachie 19 Years Old Ex-Solera Sherry Cask Matured?

According to the tasting notes, the whisky is silky-smooth, layered with waves of rich dried fruit and warming spices. Below are the full tasting notes.
  • Nose: The whisky opens with rich aromas of roasted plums and an intense hit of mocha. Beneath that unfolds honeycomb, followed by caramel candy and a lightly tangy molasses. Deeper in the glass, notes of dark cacao emerge, adding depth and warmth.
  • Palate: Full and viscous on the tongue with notes of plums and dark treacle, heather honey, black cherries, mocha, and brandy-soaked orchard fruits. Spiced accents of crystallized cinnamon and ginger round things out.
  • Finish: Long and warming with notes of dried fruits, gentle spice, and cacao.
The whisky is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

When will this GlenAllachie whisky be released?

The release date for the new whisky has not yet been announced. The distillery itself hasn’t shared any details about the launch. A filed label doesn’t always lead straight to a release, though that is often the case.
