The weekend has almost arrived for most of us. Does that mean feet up on the table and a dram in hand? Here are some top Irish Whiskey recommendations from us in any case.
Hessel
I haven't had much experience with Irish whiskey. Out of the Irish whiskey I have tasted,
Redbreast sticks out in my mind. I found the standard 12 years to be remarkably good. I could even see myself purchasing the cask strength variant at some point.
Daan
Redbreast is indeed top-notch. In addition,
Teeling also makes some phenomenal whiskies, where they actively experiment with various barrels. Personally, I find their single grain to be particularly enjoyable. Quite complex for a young grain, pleasantly mild due to aging in wine barrels, and still very affordable.
Rox
I enjoy experimenting with Teeling's cask finishes, but if there's one whiskey with a unique character that really resonates with me, then it's
The Currach. I concede that seaweed isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I personally love drinking this whiskey. I also think highly of
Clonakilty as a brand. I remember vending at an Irish whiskey festival in Belgium, and the Amarone Single Cask was very popular.

When I think of Irish whiskey, Clonakilty springs to mind first. The distillery is relatively young, but makes outstanding products. On top of this, I find the
The Whistler Dark Symphony blended Irish whiskey really enjoyable. It's one of those whiskies that you can reach for at any moment simply to savor. Nothing overly complex, just plain delightful.
And then we might get into the debate about blended whiskies supposedly being inferior, but I absolutely do not share this viewpoint. After all, a blended whiskey is a combination of other whiskies, each impressive in its own right. So why not in a blend?
