When it comes to whisky, it’s ultimately all about the taste. Though the aroma matters too. And let’s be honest, the eye wants something as well. Some whisky creations (read: bottles are real head-turners). The marketing machine certainly did its job. We’ve lined up a few of those striking whiskies for you.

Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai

This is a truly eye-catching Japanese bottle from Nikka. It was sold exclusively at airports in Japan, which explains the hefty price tag. In countries outside of Japan you’ll quickly pay around 250 pounds, whereas a few years ago you could pick one up at a Japanese airport for under 70 pounds. No matter: that doesn’t spoil the fun. What counts is how the bottle looks, and this one really stands out!

The bottle is dressed from head to toe like a little Samurai, complete with armor. Granted, the material is fairly simple, plastic, but it’s great fun all the same!

Cosa Nostra Tommy Gun

This is a very unusual bottle and we don’t even know what it tastes like. Three years of aging isn’t long. The design of the “bottle” is what really grabs attention. This whisky is shaped like a machine gun, a Tommy gun. Fun for collectors, or maybe not?

Not everyone is thrilled about it. For instance, many Italians feel it glamorizes the mafia. In any case, this whisky object is far cheaper than the next bottle on our list. You’ll pay about seventy euros for the Tommy Gun. And it stirred up a lot of controversy again.

Bell’s Old Scotch whisky

Lastly, we’ve got a whisky shaped like a bell. Yes, really. The Bell distillery released whisky in a bell-shaped decanter. There are even a few variations.
Of course, there are plenty of other stunning bottles out there. Highland Park has a few as well. But those are the kind of bottles that really make a dent in your wallet and aren’t affordable for everyone. These whisky “bottles” are nicely within reach.
What do you think of the bottles above?
