Bimber whisky Mary
Every year on March 8, it’s International Women’s Day. To mark the occasion, Bimber Distillery is releasing two new Shoulders of Giants whiskies. Both are single cask bottlings, each paying tribute to a remarkable woman from history. Here’s a closer look at both.
These two new Bimber releases celebrate women whose discoveries and ideas left a lasting mark on science and innovation.
This edition spotlights two iconic names: Mary Anning, the trailblazing fossil hunter who helped shape paleontology, and Ada Lovelace, the visionary mathematician who laid the foundations of modern computer science.

What is the Mary - The Pioneer whisky?

Mary — The Pioneer is a Single Malt Whisky fully matured in Virgin Oak Cask #788. The cask yielded just 261 bottles, making this release particularly exclusive. Tasting notes are as follows:
  • Nose: Fresh and lightly sweet with notes of freshly cut grass, green apple, marzipan, and vanilla, complemented by hints of praline and dried cherries.
  • Palate: Rich caramel sweetness with subtle oak, followed by layers of dark chocolate and a touch of cracked black pepper.
  • Finish: Long, warming, and gently spiced with lingering caramel and cocoa.
This whisky is bottled at 57.3% alcohol by volume (ABV) and is priced at 95 pounds.

What is the Ada - The Visionary whisky?

The second release, Ada — The Visionary, is a Single Malt Whisky drawn from Ex-Bourbon Cask #412. This cask produced 254 bottles, making it even more exclusive than the Mary bottling.
Here’s what to expect from the flavor profile:
  • Nose: Bright and fruity with orange zest and raspberries, joined by classic butterscotch and a subtle hint of salted caramel.
  • Palate: Creamy and smooth with vanilla, salted butter, and sweet pâtisserie notes that lend a dessert-like character.
  • Finish: Soft and rounded with long-lasting vanilla and a buttery sweetness.
This whisky is bottled at 57.9% ABV. The recommended retail price is 95 pounds per bottle.

Where can you buy the new Bimber whiskies?

Bimber Distillery’s two new single cask releases are available via the whisky maker’s website. Given the very limited outturn, you’ll need to be quick, once they’re gone, they’re gone. It’s unfortunate for those outside the United Kingdom: the whiskies are UK Only, meaning they won’t be shipped internationally.
