Bruichladdich is more than ready for Fèis Ìle 2026, Islay’s ultimate whisky festival. For Rock'in Daal the distillery is unveiling two new limited editions, but that’s not all. Alongside the new Octomore OBA Redux and Port Charlotte PC5 Redux, a true cult bottling is resurfacing: the
Bruichladdich 25 Year Old 1991 Yellow Submarine WMD III. Here’s a closer look at every release.
Bruichladdich has built a strong reputation for whiskies that are often just a little different from what you’d expect. The distillery is also known for transparency, experimentation, and a deeply rooted Islay identity. With these new Fèis Ìle 2026 bottlings, they’re once again bringing something special to the table.
What are Bruichladdich’s two special Fèis Ìle 2026 whiskies?
The two Fèis Ìle bottlings from the Scottish distillery are:
- Octomore OBA Redux
- Port Charlotte PC5 Redux
Both releases are limited to 2,500 bottles and tie into Bruichladdich’s broader anniversary year. The distillery is celebrating 25 years since its 2001 revival, a milestone already marked by the unpeated Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old. That whisky was released as a 10-year-old single malt at 50 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and crafted with Islay barley.
Octomore OBA Redux: smoke and mystery in a bottle
The most enigmatic of the two new Fèis Ìle whiskies is undoubtedly Octomore OBA Redux. This release pays tribute to Octomore Black Art, one of the most talked-about bottlings in Bruichladdich’s history. According to the distillery, this whisky explores what happens when the secrecy of Black Art meets the raw power of Octomore.
As with the Black Art series, little has been disclosed about Octomore OBA Redux. It’s a peated whisky with no age statement, and its PPM remains undisclosed. Details on cask types, barley provenance, and malting methods are also under wraps. What is known, however, is the flavor profile.
Bruichladdich describes the whisky as aromatic, fruity, and elegant, with tropical sweetness, lingering smoke, and restrained oak. It’s bottled at 54.2% ABV, limited to 2,500 bottles, with an RRP of 325 pounds.
Port Charlotte PC5 Redux: the return of a heavily peated milestone
The second Fèis Ìle release may be even more compelling for fans of Bruichladdich history. Port Charlotte PC5 Redux harks back to the first heavily peated release after the distillery’s reopening. On May 29, 2001, Bruichladdich fired up the stills again, soon leading to the first new spirit to run from the copper.
That spirit became the heavily peated single malt we now know as Port Charlotte. PC5 Redux is a five-year-old peated whisky at 40 PPM. It matured in a mix of ex-bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks, PX sherry casks, and recharred casks, and was then bottled at 63.5% ABV.
Expect a whisky that’s bursting with life: citrus and smoke on the nose with herbal spice and rosemary, followed by earthy tones on the palate. Those notes are layered with peat smoke, coconut, honey, and soft caramel.
This release is also limited to 2,500 bottles, but at a significantly lower price point of £75 compared to Octomore OBA Redux.
A legend returns: Bruichladdich 25 Year Old 1991 Yellow Submarine WMD III
Alongside the new releases, one more bottle is turning heads: the Bruichladdich 25 Year Old 1991 Yellow Submarine WMD III. This isn’t a standard bottling: it’s a cult classic with a remarkable backstory.
The
Bruichladdich WMD is set to launch soon as the latest chapter in a series inspired by the discovery of a small yellow submarine on Islay. The first whisky in the series was distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2018. Now a special 25th anniversary edition is on the way.
Details such as maturation and more have yet to be revealed. It launches on June 1, and you’ll need to be quick, this too is likely to be a very limited release.
