India is making waves in the international whisky scene once again. Dozens of Indian whiskies took home awards at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC). From well-known names such as Amrut and Indri to lesser-known brands, India’s whisky makers have brought home an impressive haul of medals.

Indian whiskies take home a host of awards

Each year, an international panel of experts judges spirits from around the world at the IWSC, assessing their aroma, flavour and overall quality. Indian whiskies have once again made their mark, earning one gold medal alongside a strong showing of silver and bronze awards.
The top honour goes to Crazy Cock The Heritage Edition Madhuca 3 Single Malt Whisky from South Seas Distilleries & Breweries. It is the only Indian whisky on the list to win gold. But plenty of other distilleries have reason to celebrate too, as the winners below show.

India shows what it can do once again

South Seas Distilleries & Breweries has particular reason to celebrate, taking home no fewer than five medals—including the only gold awarded to an Indian whisky at this year’s competition. Pernod Ricard India also stood out, with several whiskies earning awards.
With so many accolades, India is proving itself a serious contender on the international whisky stage. And if you think great whisky only comes from Scotland, Ireland or Japan, this list gives you plenty of reasons to try an Indian whisky.
