American whiskeymaker Remus, part of MGP, releases a new limited edition in collaboration with the Ruth Family in honor of baseball legend Babe Ruth. The Remus Babe Ruth Reserve 2025 is a high-rye bourbon blend with a sporting nod to Ruth's iconic number 3.
Do sports and whiskey go together? They certainly do with this new collaboration between Remus and Babe Ruth. The bottle itself is striking, featuring an art-deco label with a diamond relief and a cork that's inspired by a baseball bat. A collector's item, indeed. Only 8,399 bottles will be released, and the number isn't just random — it refers to the total number of official at-bats Ruth had during his career.

What's known about the Remus Babe Ruth Reserve?

The new bottle is a blend of three different mashbills (Ruth's number was 3), with 44%, 49%, and 36% rye, respectively, distilled in barrels from 2016 and 2017. The bourbon is bottled at a robust alcohol level of 55.5%. It is certainly not a small-time player. The spirit has aged between 9 years and is 111 proof.

How does the bourbon taste?

In terms of flavor, folks can expect aromas of brown sugar, cinnamon, and fig, while the palette reveals notes of nutmeg and toasted marshmallow. The master distiller at Ross & Squibb Distillery, Ian Stirsman, who produces Remus, is pleased with the result:
'Our 2025 edition is masterfully crafted and offers baseball fans and enthusiasts of high-rye Bourbon a unique and memorable way to celebrate America's pastime and its most legendary player.'
- Ian Stirsman
Ruth's grandson, Tom Stevens, thoroughly enjoys the collaboration. He even made a joke:
'Babe Ruth stands for excellence, and Remus maintains this standard with every unique bottle presentation. We're confident that both collectors and baseball fans will agree that Remus has scored another home run with this special release. Babe would be proud.'
- Tom Stevens

Who was Babe Ruth?

Babe Ruth was a renowned baseball player with a huge talent for the sport. He was born in 1895 and passed away in 1948.
This release aligns with MGP's strategy shift: The company announced late in 2024 that it would scale back its whiskey production and focus more on its own brands, including Remus.

Where can you buy Remus Babe Ruth Reserve?

Whether this bourbon will also be available outside the USA is not yet known. The asking price is, however, 150 US dollars. Converted to euros, this amounts to slightly more than 130 euros.
