Thomas Shelby is set to return very soon in the new Peaky Blinders movie on Netflix. And of course, that calls for a proper whiskey. Barrel Global has released a special
bourbon with a distinctive Irish twist.
What do you get when you want to craft a bourbon that does justice to the hit series Peaky Blinders and the Shelby family? You make a Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in Irish oak.
What is the Peaky Blinders Whiskey?
The American spirits platform Barrel Global has teamed up with Banijay Rights, the company that holds the rights to Peaky Blinders, to create this special bottle. Together, they produced a limited-edition whiskey inspired by the Netflix series.
After its standard maturation, this whiskey received a finish in Irish whiskey oak staves, a nod to the smuggling storyline from the show.
The bourbon for this limited edition was specially selected by the Barrel Global team and produced by Green River Distillery.
How does the liquid version of Peaky Blinders taste?
George Koutsakis, founder of Barrel Global, says it’s a privilege to create this whiskey and “bottle the sensational gangster world.”
Curious how that gangster world tastes? You’ll find the tasting notes below:
- Nose: Cherries and stone fruit, followed by honey, citrus, and baking spices.
- Palate: Bright stone fruit, toffee, and clove, then nuts, floral notes, and caramel.
- Finish: Marzipan, minerality, and cinnamon spice.
The Peaky Blinders bourbon is bottled at 45% alcohol by volume (ABV), or 90 proof.
A bottle for a Netflix hit series
The Peaky Blinders bourbon bottle is made by fans, for fans. Its label is packed with subtle nods to the Peaky Blinders universe—think horses, pocket watches, and other elements from the show.
In step with the new season, there’s also a whiskey trailer. Sadly, no Cillian Murphy—but it’s very much in the Peaky Blinders style.
How much does the Peaky Blinders whiskey cost?
The whiskey comes with a suggested retail price of around $45 on the
Barrel Global website. Buy more bottles and you can snag a discount. Unfortunately, the whiskey isn’t available in Europe: it’s limited to the
United States and Canada.
