Oban Distillery has unveiled a new exclusive whisky that’s about more than just what’s in the bottle. Oban Little Curiosities comes wrapped in a tapestry of illustrations that nod to the stories, landmarks, and people of the Scottish coastal town.
The distillery launched the whisky with a playful twist: a scavenger hunt through Oban where whisky lovers searched for the symbols featured on the bottle’s label. It’s a way for fans to discover not only the whisky, but also the town’s history and the distillery’s heritage.
Anyone who finds every location and checks them off on the free scavenger hunt map by November 1, 2026 will receive a complimentary keepsake from Oban. Supplies are limited, but that’s not really the point. The real joy lies in the bottle and the whisky itself.

Oban Little Curiosities: a whisky in a bottle brimming with local references

The Oban Little Curiosities bottle is adorned with objects and symbols tied to the town of Oban. You can spot McCaig’s Tower, one of the area’s most iconic sights.
The distillery’s maritime history also plays a key role in the design. Front and center is the year 1794, Oban Distillery’s founding year, as always. The bottle is also signed by Ronnie Whiteford, Oban’s recently retired distillery manager.
Since its founding, Oban Distillery has been deeply woven into the fabric of the town. Emma Watson, brand home manager at Oban, says the bottle is meant as a tribute to the stories and hallmarks that make Oban unique.

Rum casks lend Oban a tropical twist

Of course, Oban Little Curiosities is more than a whisky with a scavenger hunt. This single malt stands out on the palate too. After its initial maturation, the Scotch was finished in rum casks.
That finish brings notes of tropical fruit, citrus, honey, and vanilla. Its coastal character shines through with hints of sea salt and black pepper. Tasting notes below:
  • Nose: Guava, papaya, and blood orange, followed by wildflower honey and sweet vanilla.
  • Palate: Sweet citrus, bitter grapefruit, floral tones, and gentle spice.
  • Finish: Long and warming, with sea salt and black pepper.
Oban Little Curiosities is bottled at 57.5% ABV.
