Indri has introduced its new Diwali Collector’s Edition to the UK as it continues to expand the brand to international markets. The 2025 Marsala Cask is a single malt
Indian whisky, a limited edition, with only 180 bottles of the product being distributed in the UK.
The whisky is made in Indri, Haryana, in the foothills of the Himalayas, and climate has a visible influence on the maturation of the spirit.
A release influenced by cask and climate
The series was master-blended by Surrinder Kumar, who has been involved with it since the early days. It is distilled using native six-row Indian barley and aged in Marsala wine casks in Sicily, which provides it with a slightly richer and fruit-driven profile.
It is bottled at 58.5% ABV, squarely within the cask strength range, which contributes to the flavours being more pronounced.
What the distillery said
According to Kumar, the release was a continuation of a larger project to continue the push of the style of
Indian single malt. He pointed out that every issue is made to be self-sufficient and not to follow a set formula.
The
Diwali Collector’s Edition is the best of our work at Indri, he said. This release combines the richness of the chosen wine casks and the unique character formed due to our climate.
Madhu Kanna, the head of international business also cited the increasing demand of such releases beyond
India. He claimed that the UK has emerged as a significant market particularly limited and collectible bottling.
What is the taste of Indri Marsala Cask 2025?
- Nose: Apricots, cherries, and plums, stewed, with vanilla and a touch of soft spice.
- Palate: Rich, red berries, chocolate, nutmeg and walnut.
- Finish: Long and fruity, slightly spiced, warm.
A selective release to collectors
The UK has only 180 bottles, which is one of the smaller allocations of the series. It costs approximately 250 pounds, and is available in stores such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt.
The Diwali Collector’s Edition has earned a reputation of its cask-led style and small quantities, which have contributed to it being one of the newer Indian single malts.
An increasing Indian whisky presence
Single malt whisky in India has been receiving increased attention in the world during the last few years. Such releases demonstrate that distilleries are testing various casks and styles and still maintain a unique identity.
In the case of
Indri, this is a further move towards making a name among the more discussed names in the category.
