Torabhaig has released the Sound of Sleat whisky before, but now reintroduces the whisky as the sixth release in the Legacy whisky series. This time, the whisky is just a tad different from its predecessor.

To get the whisky just right, the distillery experimented heavily. Not only was this done to give the whisky the right profile, but it also led to a new evolution of the peat of Skye, says Neil MacLeod Mathieson, whisky maker at Torabhaig.
We have long experimented with offering the same whisky at different strengths to highlight new profiles and unlock new flavors. Sound of Sleat Batch Strength offers just that: grand and elegant with more spice and a delightful waxy mouthfeel showing a new side of our Sound of Sleat whisky.
- Neil MacLeod MathiesonWhat is the Torabhaig Sound of Sleat Batch Strength whisky?
The new Sound of Sleat has been bottled at batch strength. The mash for the whisky is made from Concerto and Laureate barley malted at a peat level of 78 PPM (Parts Per Million). This was then distilled into a new make spirit that was allowed to mature in American white oak barrels.
The barrel combination consisted of 75% first-fill bourbon barrels, 20% virgin oak, and 5% refill bourbon barrels. After maturing for about five to six years, the whisky was bottled at a peat level of 14.5 PPM.
What are the tasting notes of the Torabhaig Sound of Sleat Batch Strength?

- Nose: Notes of smoke, brine, sweet oak spices, fragrant tobacco, orange, apricot, and peat smoke.
- Palate: A mix of campfire glow, vanilla, white pepper, barley sugar, hints of seaweed, and a subtle waxy texture.
