The joy of whisky often begins with the ears and eyes: you see a bottle, you hear a story ... and then the tasting has yet to start! The pleasure is really complete when you drink a dram with a fine finish. Here are 5 whiskies with a sweet finish.
A whisky's finish can exhibit various flavours and lengths. It's wonderful when you buy a bottle of whisky, knowing you've got something with a beautiful finish that extends the pleasure of the whisky. The following 5 whiskies are worth considering if you have a sweet tooth!

Glenmorangie 16 Years The Nectar

We kick off this top list with the acclaimed brand, Glenmorangie. Do you know The Nectar 16 Years? This is an upgraded variant of the previous 12-year The Nectar expression.
Not only has this whisky aged in Sauternes, but also in sweet wine casks. For the 16-year edition, Monbazillac, Moscatal, and Tokaji casks were used. And this makes it nearly the ideal after-dinner whisky. Of course, you could also enjoy this drink earlier in the day.
Expect a sweet finish due to the use of these whisky casks. Think of meringue, caramel, and naturally, sweet white wine.

Akashi Ume Blended Whisky Umeshu Cask Finish

From Scotland, we travel to the land of the rising sun. There are many Akashi bottles on the market, but do you know the Ume Blended Whisky Umeshu Cask Finish? The finish gives it away. This whisky aged in Umeshu Shiratama casks. Now you might wonder: what is that?
Well, that's a Japanese plum liqueur, and you can guess what that means. So this is an Akashi whisky with a sweet finish. Expect mouth notes of apricot, raisins, honey, and, of course, plums. Delicious!

Turntable x Starward

The next bottle on the list is a collaboration between Australian whisky maker Starward and Turntable. In our review you can read the composition of this whisky, but at least 39% comes from a red wine cask and you can taste this influence well in the whisky. Discover the full taste in our review.

Naked Oat Bio 2016

Now that we've had three well-known whisky names, it’s time to put an unexpected gem in this list. We head to Austria, where you'll find the Farthofer Distillery - Mostelleria. There, an Austrian whisky has been introduced to the market, specifically an organic oat whisky.
Naked Oat Bio 2016 is creamy and has aged in unique Mostello casks. This results in a sweet finish where you will be spoiled with apricot yogurt or should we say stewed pears?

Murray McDavid Cask Craft Croftengea Double Cask Finish

Lastly, we put an independent bottler in this top 5 whiskies with a sweet finish. And this one is meant for those who are also a bit fond of peat.
This Murray McDavid bottle has been matured in Port and Madeira casks. This bottle offers a beautiful balance between peat and sweetness. And the finish? Expect something with blackcurrants and smoked meat...
