Aberlour has unveiled an evolution of its inaugural release. The A’bunadh whisky that the distillery introduced a while ago has been given a flavorful twist. For a limited time, the whisky is available in a Sherry Cask Collection, where there is experimentation with the taste of sherry.
Graeme Cruickshank, master distiller at Aberlour, explains that the whisky goes beyond the traditional release thanks to double cask maturation.

The new
single malt whisky is the first in a series of releases that the
Scottish whisky maker unveils. This edition has undergone a second maturation in a combination of first-fill Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The whisky is then bottled at a high alcohol content, specifically 56.2% alcohol by volume (ABV).
What does the Aberlour A’bunadh Sherry Cask Collection whisky taste like?
The whisky comes with extensive tasting notes. We list them below:
- Nose: Red apples, blackberries, sultanas, caramel waffles, demerara sugar, cinnamon, and ginger.
- Palate: Blackcurrant, spiced pears, vanilla toffee, sticky dates, raisins, oak and star anise.
