Old Pulteney has unveiled its very first Distillery Exclusive single malt whisky. The new whiskey is entirely dedicated to the maritime distillery in the Scottish Highlands. The whiskey has received an interesting twist regarding the barrel aging process compared to the regular variant.

Personally selected barrels

For the limited edition whisky, Malcolm Waring, distillery manager at Old Pulteney, selected specific barrels from the warehouse. His choice fell on American and French oak barrels that he kept a close eye on for years.

Under his watchful eye, the whisky matured for years on the northern coast, where the salty sea air exerts its distinctive influence. The influence of French oak has provided notes of subtle spices, while American wood added some sweeter notes. As usual, the whiskey also received influences from the coast.

Nose: Rich notes of sweetness like caramelized apple, custard, and cinnamon pies. Additionally, discover rye bread, citrus, and stone fruit with a dry hint of oak.

Palate: Sweet and spicy with notes of toffee, nutmeg, and popcorn, followed by honey, almonds, and vanilla.

Finish: Spices and honey linger while tannins emerge with dried fruit.

The whisky is bottled at 53 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).
