The new chapter in the Ardbeg Y2K whisky series

Ardbeg’s Vintage Y2K series officially has a second instalment. The new whisky is a 24-year old spirit matured in Amontillado casks. The whisky was distilled in 2000 and finally matured for 24 years in these casks.

This makes the whisky a year older than its predecessor, a 23-year old whisky that comes from oloroso and Bourbon casks.

How does the Ardbeg Y2K 24 Year Old whisky taste?

The tasting notes of the Ardbeg Y2K whisky are extensively described by the distillery. Here's a breakdown:

Nose: Spicy and deep with wonderful hints of creamy toffee, blossoming black currants, soap, leather, and almonds.
Palate: Exceptionally powerful with intense tar and wood smoke, antiseptic lozenges with embers of a campfire. Further notes of Amontillado and in the background hints of leather, cinnamon and clove.
Finish: Long and lingering with notes of menthol, eucalyptus, linseed oil, and charcoal.

The whisky is bottled at 47.8 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

The whisky is now purchasable through Ardbeg Embassies. Furthermore, the bottle can be found at Ardbeg itself. The release is limited, so you must act quickly if you want a bottle. The price per bottle is 750 euros.
