What is The Epicurean Three Wood Finish whisky?
The all-new Epicurean whisky is a twist on the well-known Lowland blended malt from Douglas Laing. In this case, an experiment was carried out using different types of wood for the whisky's finish.
After its first maturation, the whisky was distributed across three different casks, namely:
- Virgin Oak: for spicy and toasted notes.
- Ex-bourbon casks: for soft vanilla and honey notes.
- Sherry casks: for fruity and warm notes.
After the finishing process, the whisky was married and bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.1 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).
What does The Epicurean Three Wood Finish whisky taste like?
The new Epicurean Three Wood Finish whisky carries the following tasting notes:
- Nose: Showcases citrus, vanilla cream, toasted oak, sweet honey, and dried fruit.
- Palate: Smooth, featuring vanilla, baking spices, baked apple, and golden syrup. Also, rich fruit notes owing to the sherry cask.
- Finish: Long and gentle, featuring spicy notes, toffee, dark fruit and some oak-induced dryness.
