Outlander actor Sam Heughan has hit a new
milestone. He has officially completed the acquisition of Crafty Distillery in Southern
Scotland. The distillery now belongs to the actor who promptly renamed it: Galloway Distillery.

With the opening of Galloway Distillery, Heughan has a home base for his Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin and a production site for The Sassenach blended Scotch whisky. Additionally, the distillery will continue to make Crafty beverages, including Hills & Harbour gin and 24 Seven Vodka.
With an annual production capacity of 200,000 litres of pure alcohol, the distillery promises to be an interesting player in the Scotch whisky world.
For now, the focus is on special releases, including a limited quantity of new make spirit. Furthermore, the launch of The Sassenach Finest Scottish Vodka in November is being prepared.
Heughan didn't just acquire a distillery
The actor didn't just take over a whisky maker. Crafty Distillery also came with a bottling plant capable of handling 175,000 bottles a year. Moreover, it is a sustainable production location powered by green energy.
The actor plans to keep the location running for the time being, but he has also demonstrated plans for expansion. Among other things, he wants to enhance the visitor experience, enticing even more people to the distillery.
