An Unexpected Whisky Family

Sometimes, your entire family history faithfully waits in an attic without you even knowing. For Elizabeth Cobbett, an unexpected whisky journey began when she discovered old family photos. What turned out? She is the great-great-granddaughter of Bladnoch co-founder Thomas McClelland.
Cobbett found her family's photos in Liverpool and only then discovered that her great-great-grandfather was one of the founders of Bladnoch. Although she had once visited the distillery grounds in the '90s, the connection gradually faded into the background. Until 20 years later, she came across a call from Bladnoch to share stories.
That memory turned out to be the key to Chapter Two in the Loch Maberry series, a collection that celebrates personal connections with the distillery.

Collaborating with the Master

For the new Bladnoch whisky release, Cobbett, in collaboration with Dr. Nick Savage, the Master Distiller at Bladnoch Distillery, selected cask number 450. This is a sherry butt filled in 2006.
The result of this choice is a robust single malt with a natural color, non-chill filtered, bottled at 48.6% alcohol by volume (ABV).
Savage says that this release is all about family and familial ties.
‘Just as whisky requires time to mature, personal connections also need that. Elizabeth's story is proof of that.’
