Are you still looking for a delightful movie about whisky? Then we have a fantastic movie tip for you, namely: The Angel’s Share. Granted, it's not the newest film, but it's certainly enjoyable!
This article was previously published on the Dutch version of Whisky Monkeys.

From evaporated whisky to a movie

Anyone familiar with whisky knows that the angel’s share is that portion of whisky that evaporates every year. Thankfully, it’s only a small part of the whisky that's going to the angels and whisky lovers get to enjoy the rest of it.
For director Ken Loach, the term angel's share was enough of an inspiration to make an entire film centered around this phenomenon. In 2012, the arthouse film The Angel's Share hit the market. The movie is available on DVD and has a playtime of about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

What The Angel's Share about?

The film tells the story of Robbie, quite the mischievous character who has his life unsorted. He has a criminal past and struggles to find work. He yearns to get his life in order, especially since he has become a father.
However, his quick temper soon threatens a relapse into his old ways. He faces the danger of going to jail, but get's one last change to avoid being locked up. Then, something amusing happens when his probation officer takes Robbie and a few other young men on a trip to a distillery.
Suddenly, Robbie by chance finds himself immersed in the world of whisky. As you might guess, not everything runs smoothly on his new path either. Without revealing too much, you are in for a delightful film, somewhat dramatic yet equally endearing.
Whisky forms the thread through the entire story. This begins as soon as Robbie becomes a father and a 32-year-old Springbank is opened.

Highly Recommended

If you're even the slightest whisky-enthusiast, you just have to see this film. Don't take our word for it. The movie had a rating of 7 out of 10 on IMDB and is rated fresh by Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 88 percent.
