One of the more known whiskeybrands in Ireland is Teeling. The distillery offers a lot of different bottles and at the distillery there are tours begin held which take you through Irish whiskey history. Here are five things you should know about Teeling Whiskey Distillery.

A logo with considerable depth

If you see a bottle of Teeling Whiskey or if you take a quick glance at the logo of the Irish distillery, you'll only see a large bird with its wings spread. The bird in question is not just any feathered creature. It's a phoenix that is, in a way, rising from the ashes. The logo thus points to the resurrection of the distillery in 2015 and to the return of Ireland as a whiskey country and Irish whiskey.
But there's more that Wall told us. If you look at the logo a bit longer, you'll see that the body of the phoenix houses a distillation pot and the column. The bird's head is exactly where the column ends. And the wings? They are the alcohol vapours of the whiskey being distilled. Now, isn't that fun?

Three very special barrels under lock and key

During the tour offered by Teeling Whiskey, one of the attractions is shown. Teeling Whiskey Distillery has three special barrels waiting for a particular moment. Well, two of them are. They are barrels of whiskey that will mature for exactly 18 years.
The names on the barrels are those of Zoë and Holly, the daughters of Stephen Teeling. On the ladies' eighteenth birthday, they don't receive a car or driver's license as a present, but these barrels. If you ask us, that's a pretty good deal. Until then, you can admire the barrels and the third barrel, the first batch of Teeling's Single Pot Still whiskey, in the distillery if you take a tour.

‘New Dawn’: the Phoenix in stained glass

The Teeling distillery has large round windows at the front. One of these windows has not too long ago been replaced by a special work of art: a stained-glass window with a diameter of no less than two meters, created by Bianco Divito.
The title of the artwork is New Dawn and the phoenix, which also forms the Teeling logo, glisten in its center. The bird logo was inspired by the 'Great Whiskey Fire' in 1871. The artwork further honors the process and movements of whiskey during distillation and maturation.

The brand dates back to the 19th century

The Teeling Distillery as we know it may only be eight years old (for which they recently released a birthday whiskey), but the brand has a much longer history. The brand was established in 1782 when Walter Teeling opened a small artisan distillery called Teeling in Dublin.
This distillery was situated on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin, just a stone's throw from the current distillery in The Liberties. At the time, Irish whiskey was a booming business and there were numerous active distilleries. Eventually, the distillery was sold and had to close its doors due to a lack of demand for the Irish divine drink.
Finally, Jack and Stephen Teeling managed to revitalize the brand with the establishment of the Teeling Whiskey Company in 2012. In 2015, the doors of the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery opened as the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years.

The world's first LEGO distillery

When Teeling Whiskey turned six, they celebrated in a grand fashion. There was a cocktail event with over 100 virtual attendees and all the people who visited the distillery in June 2021 were given free ice cream. But that's not all.
To immortalize the sixth anniversary, a team of LEGO experts from Dublin Bricks got to work. With a whopping 4,137 LEGO blocks, this team built a miniature version of the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, from the pot stills to the distillery's souvenir shop. It's not just any building, but the world's first LEGO distillery.
On Teeling's Instagram page you can admire the LEGO work of art, but it's even more fun to see it in person at the distillery.
