Another whisky label has surfaced in the TTB database. This time, the label points to a new
The Macallan The Night on Earth whisky and it might just bring the series to a tasteful close. Here’s everything we know about the potential upcoming release.
The online
TTB database regularly registers new
labels for whiskies. Distilleries and producers submit these with an eye toward a possible future release. While many of these bottles hit the shelves shortly afterwards, some never make it past the label stage.
It looks like The Macallan is preparing to conclude its world tour. After previous Night on Earth editions that took you to
Scotland, Jerez, and New Zealand, we’re setting off one last time for a New Year’s whisky.
One last New Year’s collaboration
The whisky is called “The Finale,” suggesting this bottling will bring the series to a close. But which city and country are in the spotlight and which artist has the distillery teamed up with?
The label gives it all away. According to the back label, this single malt was created in collaboration with New Orleans–born and raised artist Hill Spriggins. Her design pays tribute to the city’s diverse culture and vibrant New Year’s spirit.
New Orleans is famed for its music, street life, art, and exuberant festivities. Yet the label itself is anything but exuberant. The artwork shows a black-and-white painting of the city that comes across as quite dark. Curiously, the whisky is said to remind Spriggins of bright lights, fond memories, and the rhythmic glow of streetlamps.
What will The Macallan A Night on Earth The Finale taste like?
As ever, The Macallan is a Highland single malt. The cask maturation isn’t specified, but the flavor profile is.
Expect notes of sweetness and warmth, layered with spice, creamy vanilla, and lively orange.
The whisky will be bottled at 43% alcohol by volume (ABV).
When will the new The Macallan be released?
Unfortunately, the release date and price have not yet been announced. Registering a label doesn’t always guarantee an actual launch.
