Ready for a new English whisky? Then there’s good news. Cotswolds Distillery has unveiled a new single cask whisky. The new bottle is called Field to Cask: Akeman Street Farm. According to the English distillery, this new whisky is more or less synonymous with everything the distillery stands for.

Limited whisky release

As they write:
From soil to spirit, every drop of our whisky is rooted in the land we call home. The Field to Cask Series celebrates the farms that grow our story – one cask at a time. Each limited-edition release is named in tribute to the farm where its journey continues.’

Where does the name come from?

It’s now the third release, and to be precise, it’s cask number 699 that has been bottled. As we’ve been writing for over two and a half years: there are so many stories to discover in the whisky world. And that also applies to the name of this bottle, because Akeman Street Farm isn’t just a name; it carries meaning. It turns out this is the very place where Cotswolds Distillery sources its barley. The farm lies along an ancient Roman road.
Those hoping to get their hands on a bottle will need to act fast, as this is once again a single cask whisky. This release is limited to only 186 bottles and once it’s gone, it’s gone. The price tag is £125.

Interview Daniel Szor

Earlier, we had an interview with Daniel Szor from Cotswolds Distillery, in which we wrote the following: Szor decided to regularly attend whisky tastings with his good friend Jean-Marc Bellier (“I always call him my Mr. Miyagi”), who ran the shop La Maison Du Whisky in Paris. It was as if there was a whisky cupid, because in New York it struck again. There, his friend Dave also fell under the spell of the water of life. The former “war and wine” trips were instantly renamed whisky journeys — and where better to do that than in Scotland?
