Tomatin new whisky packaging
Tomatin has decided to refresh how its whiskies look on the shelf. But this is not just about design. It is really about showing what the distillery has always focused on.
The Highland distillery has introduced new packaging across its core range. The goal is simple. Put more attention on the wood and cask work behind every bottle.

Why Tomatin is focusing more on cask and wood

If you know Tomatin, you know they take wood seriously. Not many distilleries can say they have their own cooperage on site. That is a big deal. It means they handle their casks themselves. They know where each one comes from and how it behaves over time.
This focus was recently recognised. Their cooper, Allan Bartlett, was named Cooper of the Year in 2025. That moment clearly pushed the brand to highlight this part of their story even more.

What the new Tomatin packaging looks like

The biggest change is the new box design. It now features a wood-grain pattern, which is meant to reflect the rings inside oak trees. Each whisky in the range also gets its own colour. Some are deep and dark. Others are brighter and easier to spot. It helps each bottle stand out quickly.
The labels have also been updated. Everything now looks cleaner. It is easier to understand what you are buying without overthinking it.

Which Tomatin whiskies are getting the update?

The rollout has already started. You will first see the new design on the following bottles:
  • Tomatin Legacy
  • Tomatin 12 Year Old Triple Cask (this replaces the old 12 Year Old name)
More bottles will follow soon. This includes:
  • Tomatin 8 Year Old
  • Tomatin 13 Year Old
  • and other core expressions
Even travel retail bottles will get the same update throughout 2026.
Tomatin has also been active with special releases, including a recent Year of the Horse PX sherry cask edition, which showed a different side of the distillery.

Why this change matters for whisky drinkers

This is not just a visual upgrade. It is about making things clearer. Tomatin wants people to understand their whisky faster. No confusion. No clutter. Just clear information and a strong identity.
At the same time, nothing inside the bottle has changed. The whisky itself stays the same. According to their marketing team, the focus is still on quality, value, and consistency.
