One of the most successful artists of all time, Rod Stewart, has put his name to a bold whisky. Wolfie’s is a blended Scotch. The question is: does it deliver a truly enjoyable taste experience? You’ll find out in this Wolfie’s Review.
Rod Stewart is known for his leopard-print leggings, pink shirts, and raspy voice. In the ’70s he was wildly popular with hits like “Sailing” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy,” showing up weekly on TV.
Beyond his music, he’s done extensive charity work, earning him a knighthood in his native England. Still, the flamboyant singer has always had a soft spot for
Scotland, where his father was born. Put two and two together, and launching his own whisky suddenly makes perfect sense. Enter: Wolfie’s.
Loch Lomond Distillery takes a side step
This whisky is produced by Loch Lomond Distillery. No stranger in the whisky world, Loch Lomond offers a strong lineup of single malts. With Wolfie’s, they’ve clearly taken a side step. Wolfie’s blends Loch Lomond single malts with grain whisky.
The exact recipe is closely guarded. What we do know: Wolfie’s is distilled in Loch Lomond’s copper pot stills and matured in American oak bourbon casks. The water used in production comes straight from Loch Katrine.

Rhythm of My Heart
The bottle looks sharp, with the Wolfie’s logo embossed in the glass. As you pour, the striking color immediately stands out. Just like in the Wolfie’s logo, orange is clearly the dominant hue.
The nose is light and fresh, but the palate is fuller than you’d expect from a standard 40 percent blend. Vanilla and a subtle hint of smoke bring a nice balance to the flavor. Loch Lomond isn’t a company that just throws anything in a bottle—they always aim for quality. That said, with a higher ABV, say 43 percent, you’d likely get even more flavor.
Etched at the base of the bottle are the words “Rhythm of My Heart,” a Rod Stewart track that borrows the melody from the classic “Loch Lomond.”
Conclusion: Wolfie’s Blended Scotch Review
Wolfie’s is a pleasing blend that brings to mind Ballantine’s Finest at its core, but with extra fruit and a bit more punch.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing? It’s an easy sipper. Perfect for introducing a wide audience to something bolder than mainstream whiskies. Rock and roll, not a meek little lamb.
Rod’s still going strong and clearly sports a “no age statement” of his own. At 79 he still performs regularly. Hopefully without the leopard leggings. Rod and his whisky make a fine “wolf pack,” so cheers to that!
+ An easy entry-level whisky
+ Fuller flavor than expected
+ A fun bottle to look at
- Could be even nicer at a higher ABV
