In this new edition of our whisky deals, we’re spotlighting a handful of whiskies from the Campbeltown region. Experience the “Whisky Capital of Scotland” through three sharply priced drams. Naturally, we’re talking about Glen Scotia.
At the end of the 19th century, Campbeltown was the epicenter of whisky production in Scotland. Around 1890, the town boasted more than 30 distilleries. Today only three remain active, which, according to the Scotch Whisky Association, is the minimum required for recognition as a whisky region. Thankfully, new distilleries are on the horizon, but for now it’s Glen Scotia, Springbank, and Glengyle.
Glen Scotia carries a storied reputation. That’s why this week we’ve curated a selection from this distillery.

Glen Scotia 10 Year Old

This whisky is a true Campbeltown classic with unmistakable character. A nectar fit for the gods, it’s matured for a full 10 years in carefully selected first-fill bourbon casks. Expect fresh sea spray and toasted oak on the nose. The palate is silky, like syrup, with melted brown sugar. The finish is long, with gentle spice: think ground ginger and cinnamon. This is Campbeltown in a glass.

Glen Scotia Double Cask

Next up: Glen Scotia Double Cask. As the name hints, this superb whisky draws on two types of casks. With over 180 years of experience, the distillery stands proudly on Scotland’s west coast. The fishing harbor has long been a vital hub for the whisky trade.
Today, it’s also a welcoming gateway for visitors exploring the stunning Kintyre coastline. This whisky first matures in bourbon casks and is then finished in Pedro Ximénez casks, striking a beautiful balance of spice and that signature maritime spray.

Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Finish

Finally, let’s talk about Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Finish. The popular Double Cask gets an extra flourish with a rum-cask finish, adding a tropical spectrum of flavors to this outstanding whisky. The finish lasts an impressive 8 to 12 months in Demerara rum casks from Guyana. This brilliantly executed twist on the core range is a must for anyone who loves lush rum notes.
