A New Angel’s Envy Whiskey Just Appeared, and It's a Distillery First

Angel’s Envy released its annual Cask Strength Bourbon
alongside a first for the distillery: a 10-year rye whiskey. The bourbon
continues an existing series. The rye adds an age statement to the bottles for
the first time.
Both releases sit within the
same framework. Angel’s Envy continues to treat finishing as the defining step,
not as an addition at the end. The bourbon builds on earlier batches, while the
rye applies the same philosophy to a different base spirit.
What is the Angel's Envy Cask Strength whiskey?
The new Cask Strength Bourbon is
the next chapter in an ongoing series. The distillery uses a solera system for this
whiskey and with that it keeps building on previous releases. Owen Martin, master
distiller at Angel’s Envy, says this helpt the bourbon get it’s unique flavor
profile.

An Angel's Envy first: 10 Year Old Rye whiskey
The distillery first is a 10
year old rye whiskey. This whiskey is aged in oak and Caribbean rum casks for 10
years, before it was bottled at 55,8% alcohol by volume (ABV). The age was not planned ahead.

Unfortunately, the evidence you referred to consists only of two people talking about the whisky, without any explanation or identification. We have not spoken to the individuals in the video ourselves, nor can we verify who they are. We describe it as a Chinese whisky because it is released by a Chinese distillery. - Let's keep this factually correct. Pernod Ricard DID NOT release a Chinese whisky. Their first output from The Chuan (the name of the distillery in Sichuan, China) wasn't fit for bottling. What they actually bottled was imported Scotch whisky. This is why the product is called "PURE MALT" and not "Chinese Whisky" - because Pure Malt is not a regulated term - this is not a secret. This was exposed about a week after they released it. There were even videos about their own staff on site admitting it was made from imported whisky - which Pernod Ricard got the lawyers onto to get the video pulled.
