Ardbeg brings the Anthology whisky series to a close with intense whisky

Ardbeg has unveiled the third and final whisky in the Anthology whisky series. The series concludes with a final unique whisky, namely The Beithir’s Tale, whose label already appeared a while ago.
Like its predecessors, the whisky centers on a unique tale from Scotland, to which Ardbeg has added its own twist. The exact tale on the bottle has not yet been disclosed. However, we can already tell you what the Beithir is.
This is a giant sea serpent that, according to the folklore, is the largest and deadliest of all. Anyone bitten by the beast must dash to the water. The only way to survive is to reach the water before the beithir does.

What whiskies are included in the Ardbeg Anthology series?

The series features a total of three smoky single malt whiskies, including the Ardbeg Beithir whisky. They are listed below:
  • The Harpy’s Tale (2023): aged in sauternes and bourbon barrels.
  • The Unicorn’s Tale (2024): aged in a combination of port and oloroso barrels.
  • The Beithir’s Tale (2025): from bourbon barrels, but intensely charred.

What is the Ardbeg Anthology: The Beithir’s Tale whisky?

The Ardbeg Anthology: The Beithir’s Tale whisky strays somewhat from the rest of the series. This whisky has not been aged in a combination of unusual barrels, but has 'simply' been in a bourbon barrel.
However, this barrel was intensively charred so that the smoky Islay whisky would attain an even fuller and livelier character. The whisky is 15 years old.

What are the tasting notes for Ardbeg Anthology: The Beithir’s Tale whisky?

As for the taste profile, you can expect the following from the whisky:
  • Nose: Peat smoke with ash and charcoal, followed by sweeter notes of syrup and vanilla, citrus peel and a hint of dark coffee.
  • Palate: Full and lively with smoked butter, caramel and spicy wood notes followed by peppery citrus and a hint of coffee grounds. The charred bourbon barrels offer a deeper roasted, almost toffee-like warmth.
  • Finish: Long, smoky and slightly oily with notes of vanilla and smoked butter.

When is the Ardbeg Beithir whisky available for purchase?

Available from August 12th, 2025 via Ardbeg’s website.
