That the whisky landscape in 2025 was anything but an easy market is clear. While many producers had to scale back their international ambitions, Brother’s Bond Bourbon did the exact opposite. The brand from Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley of The Vampire Diaries fame saw its global growth climb by roughly 40% in just twelve months.
Smart investment and strategic expansion
A $7.5 million capital injection early this year gave the brand the runway to accelerate. It expanded into key whisky markets including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Greece, Austria, Taiwan, and Japan. Each is a fiercely competitive arena, but one with room for brands that bring a strong identity and a clear vision.
Previously, the brand was initially only available in its home market, the United States, and later Canada.

We have not spoken to the individuals in the video ourselves, nor can we verify who they are. We describe it as a Chinese whisky because it is released by a Chinese distillery. - Let's keep this factually correct. Pernod Ricard DID NOT release a Chinese whisky. Their first output from The Chuan (the name of the distillery in Sichuan, China) wasn't fit for bottling. What they actually bottled was imported Scotch whisky. This is why the product is called "PURE MALT" and not "Chinese Whisky" - because Pure Malt is not a regulated term - this is not a secret. This was exposed about a week after they released it. There were even videos about their own staff on site admitting it was made from imported whisky - which Pernod Ricard got the lawyers onto to get the video pulled.
